ABOUT US

The people of faith who became First Presbyterian Church of Perry organized on February 26, 1905.  There were 15.  By May of the following year, the small group (all of whom were involved in the lumber industry) had constructed a sanctuary in which to worship.  That sanctuary was located on Main St. in Perry.

In 1996, with a membership nearing 150, the First Presbyterian Church moved into Phase I of the Plantation Rd. Facility. This facility provided a fellowship and worship center and several classrooms.  In August of 1998 Phase II was completed adding several more classrooms, the choir rehearsal room, and the office suite.  In June of 2003 the new sanctuary was completed and the first Service of Worship was held in the sanctuary on June 29, 2003.

The history of the First Presbyterian Church bears clear evidence of God’s continual working in our corporate life. As a church we have been richly blessed over the years.  We look back with grateful hearts.  But God is not through with us and so we look ahead in the knowledge that God calls us into his will.  We pray that our response to God’s Call will honor and glorify His name.

Our church is a member congregation of the Presbytery of St. Augustine and the Presbyterian Church USA.

The First Presbyterian Church is governed by  representatives elected from the church membership.  These representatives are called elders and serve for a three year term.  There are twelve elders and together they are called the session. The session elders are divided into five committees to carry out the purpose of the church - SERVE GOD
